PIVOT leg strap review: use in the T-6A and T-38C

Durability in military flying

I used the PIVOT leg strap in the T-6A and T-38C as a military pilot. It held up to wear and tear over time and never failed during my use. That is the strongest reason I can give for recommending it.

The other reason is adjustment. The strap was easy to adjust and stayed comfortable during high-performance flight. I appreciated being able to get a comfortable fit without giving up the rugged construction that made it worth using in the first place.

The plate, padding, and strap

The standard Leg Strap currently sold by PIVOT combines a rotating case plate, padded backing, and an elastic/nylon strap. PIVOT specifies impact-resistant polycarbonate for the plate and backing. The photographs show that current product, rather than the individual strap I flew with.

The plate changes the tablet's viewing orientation; the strap adjusts the fit around the leg. Those are separate adjustments. The package includes S/M and L/XL straps, an extension, and a belt tether intended to help keep the assembly in position while walking.

Keeping the same case across mounts

The plate connects to a PIVOT case. That shared interface lets a compatible case move between the leg strap and another PIVOT mount, including a suction mount. The tablet stays in its case when changing mounting arrangements.

Why I recommend it

My recommendation comes from using the leg strap in both aircraft: it stood up to wear, remained comfortable, and never failed on me. Ruggedness and easy adjustment are the qualities I value most about it. Those observations are specific to my experience with the leg strap.
